MHCC ACT regards the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as a worthy initiative and one with the potential to improve the lives of thousands of people with psychosocial disability, their families and carers. It is a massive change to the way disability support services are negotiated, structured and purchased.

With such fundamental change comes major upheaval. As with many major policy reforms, the NDIS has had aspects which have worked well and those which have not. There remain many challenges to be addressed before the NDIS can meet its objectives – particularly when it comes to psychosocial disability.

MHCC ACT is committed to supporting our members to offer sustainable, safe, quality support services to people with psychosocial disability within the NDIS.

We continue to advocate for adjustments in the NDIS to better cater for the needs of people with psychosocial disability. It is vital that supports and services can be delivered in a true recovery framework and cater to the episodic nature of psychosocial disability.
