ACT Mental Health Sector Update - 12 December 2019

In this edition:

We start this newsletter with Christmas wishes as well as letting you know our opening times over the festive season. Our spotlight member organisation this edition is the St Vincent de Paul Society. There have been a lot of reports come out recently – read about the Victorian Royal Commission into mental health services, the National Mental Health Commission's Vision 2020, the University of Western Australia’s white paper on the first 6 years of the NDIS, the Parliamentary Joint Standing Committee interim report on NDIS planning, and finally don’t forget to listen to Dr Stephen King speak about the Productivity Commission inquiry into mental health. Did you know the ACT is developing Wellbeing Indicators? A national consortium has been established on Perinatal Mental Health and more recently a study has shown perinatal mental illness costs Australia $7.3 billion. Research suggests financial incentives can improve physical health. Access free resources on multicultural mental health and read about guidelines and resources being developed on trauma aware schooling and vicarious trauma in workplaces. Have you got something to share? Abstracts are being sought for NDIS and Indigenous health conferences in 2020. Take part in the SANE Australia stigma survey. Finally keep up with changes in the NDIS.
