ACT Mental Health Sector Update -14 May 2020

In this edition we are inviting nominations for a Lived Experience Director to sit on the MHCC ACT Board. We are also excited to announce that the Mental Health Month Grant applications are NOW OPEN. The Joint Standing Committee are reviewing the NDIS workforce - read the submissions from the MHCC ACT, along with other key organisations; and we have also included the current updated NDIS price guide. The relationship between healthy eating and mental and physical well being is explored through a number of sources, whilst Mad in America explore the changing criteria for mental illness. Read about how growing inequality in communities has led to greater interest in the concept of a Universal Basic Income. A new webinar series looks at the framework for multicultural mental health initiatives; and Medical News Today explore the effects of antidepressant withdrawal. We share about the new Canberra Wellness Exchange which looks at how we can care for our mental health and emotional wellbeing. And we finish with ACTCOSS discussing legislation that seeks to address situations of abuse of vulnerable older people.
