ACT Mental Health Sector Update - 2 April 2020

In this edition we have news of the recent release  by the Office for Mental health and Wellbeing of their "Review of Children and Young People's Mental Health in the ACT" this research was conducted in collaboration with Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) . As the National Mental Health Commission continues to develop its Peer Workforce initiatives we have the latest information on what is happening in that space.  We have two animal related articles speaking to the valuable contribution that pets can make to a persons recovery and the  evolving benefits of equine therapy. Read some research about social distancing and isolation and some interesting research from Germany about the connection between "social connection" and happiness. Continuing the social connection theme Jessica baron discusses the pro's and con's of social media and Facebook. To Finish we have a moving short film about "Sarah" and her recovery journey living in Trieste in Italy.
