ACT Mental Health Sector Update - 7 Feb 2019

Our major headline in this edition highlights the cuts to mental health funding to non-government organisations by $10 million in 2016 -2017. This cut is attributed to the shift of funds to the NDIS. In other news, we look at the link between gut bacteria and mental health and the benefits of sailing for mental health in an article published by ABC News, 'Sailors, sauerkraut and PTSD: Exploring the link between gut bacteria and mental health'.

Upcoming events highlighted in this issue include self-advocacy and consumer representation training, a PTSD awareness workshop and a lecture by the 2017 Australian Mental Health Nurse of the year and keynote speaker - Matt Ball, 'Stigma, lived experience and recovery'.
