ACT Mental Health Sector Update - 7 March 2019

We begin this edition by highlighting the cuts to Mental Health funding leading to overloaded Emergency Departments. Paul Russell, Manager of Mental Health Recovery and NDIS Services at Woden Community Services, said the NDIS had been devastating for people with serious mental health issues who were not eligible, and occasionally for those who were. In other news you can read about the Royal Commission into abuse and violence for people with disabilities, Improving Physical Health of People Accessing Mental Health Services and how the disability sector is faring. Upcoming events include; Motivational Interviewing an event by MHCC ACT, Partners in Depression - a six week group program by Carers ACT, Consumer Representation Training by the ACT Mental Health Consumer Network and many more.
