Updated: Jan 22, 2020

In this edition:

Here at the Mental Health Community Coalition of the ACT (MHCC ACT), we've been busy organising some relevant and timely training courses on aspects of the NDIS.  There are three face to face workshops and five short online modules that you can pick between.  The first of the face to face workshops is on Thursday 5 September, and it's on NDIS Support Coordination.  Get details of all the workshops and online modules at this page of our website.   In this edition, MIFA has a plan for providing services to people who don't receive NDIS services but have severe mental illness, a report on the first six months of the ACT Recovery College, our sector reacts to news that the ACT Opposition wants to impose legal sanctions on hoarders, two stories about the lack of sufficient mental health treatment for prisoners, social media and the mental health of teens, free seminars for parents of adolescents with mental health issues, Australia's Long-Term National Health Plan, efforts of the community sector in trying to retain support staff, tweaking the NDIS to better suit people with psychosocial disability, Trump blaming 'wicked, mental ill monsters' for mass shootings in the US, 'mindfulness - privatising a social problem', Marymead in the Spotlight, and more!
